Because of the pharmacological properties of prednisolone, special care should be taken when the veterinary medicinal product is used in animals with a weakened immune system. These corticosteroids occur naturally in the body, and help to maintain health and well-being. Boosting your body with extra corticosteroids is an effective way to treat various illnesses involving inflammation in the body. These are expected to increase the risk of systemic side effects. The initial dosage of Prednisolone may vary from 5mg to 60mg daily depending on the disorder being treated. Administration as a once daily dose in the morning or on alternate days can reduce the risk of adrenocortical suppression (see Section 4.4 Special warnings and precautions for use).

Do not throw away medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. If ordered before noon Monday to Thursday, Heavy items will be delivered next working day. Heavy items ordered after 12 Noon Friday, or anytime Saturday and Sunday will be processed as soon as possible on normal working days. To get it faster you can upgrade Light items to a Guaranteed Courier service, Saturday Courier or even before 12 noon services.
In cases where a bacterial infection is present the product should be used in association with suitable antibacterial therapy. Corticoid administration is to induce an improvement in clinical signs rather than a cure. The treatment should be combined with treatment of the underlying disease and/or environmental control. Refrigerated items are only dispatched by courier Monday to Thursday to ensure the item remains cool.

Potentially serious mental disorders may occur during treatment with corticosteroids including prednisolone. It can be anything from euphoria, sleep disorders, mood swings, personality changes and severe depression to psychotic manifestations. Existing emotional instability and psychotic tendencies can also be exacerbated by corticosteroids (see section 4.8). The symptoms typically begin within a few days or weeks after the start of treatment.
